Digitize Corners
If all the insertion data was entered manually on the Image Parameter screen then the image should appear in it's proper position in relationship to the vector map. It is possible that instead of receiving the insertion parameters, you may have a CAD file or line in one that shows the outline of the image. If this is the case all parameters should be set to "Specify on-screen" and digitized as follows.
  • Insertion point - This is the lower left corner of the image
  • Scale Factor - The distance in ground units from the lower left corner to the lower right corner. If the insertion point was digitized then the scale factor is determined by digitizing the lower right corner next. If the insertion point was entered manually then both lower left and lower right must be read to establish the distance.
  • Rotation - The angle from the X axis to a line connecting the lower left and lower right corners. If the insertion point and scale factor were digitized as described above then the rotation can be established by digitizing the lower right corner of the image again.
So if all three parameters were to be digitized on screen the order would be
  1. Lower Left
  2. Lower Right
  3. Lower Right
As it relates to the image file.
Note that if there is a box representing the outline of an image OSNAP is very helpful.
